About MHB3® Hyaluronan & Hyaluronic Acid

Frequently Asked Questions

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a molecule naturally produced and found in all mammal’s tissue. It initiates healing, retains moisture, lubricates, and absorbs shock in joints.

What is the molecular weight of a hyaluronic acid molecule?

Molecular weight refers to the size of the HA molecule. The molecular weight of hyaluronan is critical to its functionality and bio-availability. Low molecular weight HA (<500,000 Daltons) is considered pro-inflammatory and can have negative effects. HA with a high molecular weight (>3 million Daltons) is too large to be absorbed well. The MHB3 Hyaluronan used in Baxyl hits the sweet spot, with a range of 750,000-2.5 million Daltons.

Where does the MHB3® molecule come from?

MHB3® is made via a process called microbial fermentation. It is a very similar process to how penicillin or yogurt is made. This process gives us a molecule that has no animal or plant by-products. So, it is completely vegan, allergy free, gluten free, and soy free.

What is the difference between HA, hyaluronan, hyaluronic acid, and sodium hyaluronate?

There is no difference, they are all the same. Hyaluronan, hyaluronic acid, and sodium hyaluronate are all different ways of referring to HA.

Why are liquid formulations so important?

The body cannot absorb hyaluronic acid molecules unless they are fully hydrated. Because HA molecules are extremely water loving, they can hold up to 1000 times their weight in water. Dry forms of HA (pills, tablets, capsules & powders) do not have enough time to fully hydrate before being passed through the body’s digestive tract. Essentially, dry forms are not absorbed by the body and therefore much less effective. The primary absorption points for HA throughout the body are in the mucosal tissue of the mouth and the upper parts of the throat. To take advantage of the absorption points, the supplement must be bioavailable for immediate absorption as soon as it hits your mouth. Therefore, we will continue to offer only fully hydrated, bioavailable HA supplements that are guaranteed to deliver results.

Baxyl® Ingredients

The primary ingredients for Baxyl® products are polysaccharides — hyaluronan (HA), also known as hyaluronic acid or sodium hyaluronate, as well as AO-Biotics and beta-glucans derived from mushrooms.

  • Astaxanthin

Found only in Baxyl® Sport, astaxanthin is a natural red algae that acts as an antioxidant & assists with soft tissue health, muscular recuperation, and exercise recovery. Because astaxanthin is an aquatic algae, it has a briny aftertaste. Athletes and those who work on their feet and legs regularly can benefit from the daily use of astaxanthin. Taken twice daily, users begin to notice results in a few short weeks. Don’t let the fear of aching joints prevent you from enjoying running, walking or enjoying other sports and entertainment you enjoy or keep you from performing your job when on your feet and legs for hours at a time.

  • A.O. Prebiotic

Aspergillus oryzae (A.O. Prebiotic) was created by our parent company, BioZyme® Inc, using a proprietary, multi-step process that has been refined over the last 70 years. AO-Biotics® Amaferm®, found in Baxyl® GI, is a prebiotic research-proven to enhance digestibility, while supporting a healthy gut microbiota. With 70% of the immune response found in the digestive tract, a prebiotic like AO-Biotic Amaferm helps improve your overall health. There are numerous varieties of AO found in food and health products, however, when we refer to AO, we are talking about our proprietary strain.

  • Lion's Mane Extract

Lion’s mane extract is derived from lion’s mane mushrooms that are found to be very nutrient-dense and filled with essential vitamins and minerals. The lion’s mane mushrooms are rich in thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, manganese, zinc and potassium. Research shows that the lion’s mane extract is rich in beta glucan content that supports enhanced gastroprotection and further encourages the growth of good gut bacteria with prebiotic fiber. Lion’s mane mushrooms are a great source of oligosaccharides, a specific type of carbohydrate that have many critical biological functions including antioxidative and anti-tumor activities.
